Review – Ms B’s CAKERY, Hong Kong
Following the success of SEVVA, Bonnie Gokson recently opened Ms B’s CAKERY and their Crêpe Suzette Cake immediately caught our attention. Ordering was a bit cumbersome as we had to download a form and fax it back to them. However, their staff followed up first thing in the morning and ensured that the order was received. An online form would have been a better user experience.
We picked up our order at the prescribed time and the packaging was very chic as expected. Seemed like something you would walk out with from a boutique. The multi-layered cake was very nice, not too sweet and certainly had all the flavors of a Crêpe Suzette. The candied orange rind that topped the cake also added some zest if needed.
Now to explore the other goodies on their site…

Review – Yee Shun Milk Company (義順牛奶公司), Hong Kong
Ever since C and R’s childhood days (a long long time ago), Yee Shun had always been the place they had to go during their trips to Macau. Famous for their double boiled milk/雙皮奶 (HK$20/US$2.55), they are also good for boiled milk with ginger/薑汁撞奶 (HK$21/US$2.70). The boiled egg/冰花燉蛋 (HK$16/US$2.05), however, is much better at the Australia Dairy Company (澳洲牛奶公司) in Jordon. The convenience of having a shop in Hong Kong is well worth it and saves a trip to Macau.

Review – Xiao Tian Gu (小甜谷), Hong Kong
Dessert, the most important part of a meal. After our dinner at Sushi Shin, we walked a few blocks towards Causeway Bay to this dessert place tucked in the side streets off Tung Lo Wan Road. Opened by actress Jo Koo (谷祖琳), this place was packed. The watermelon ice (西瓜梅子冰山) and coconut ice (飄雪椰皇冰山) were perfect for the hot weather. We were told that they used actual watermelon and coconut shells before, but I guess that was too time consuming or something. The iced lychee milk (荔枝奶凍) was also very smooth and refreshing. They have some snacks too, but I think we’ll stick to the desserts.
