This is a new deli by Chef Patrick Goubier of the Chez Patrick Restaurant fame. The deli, located on Star Street in Wanchai, Hong Kong, reminds us of the Classified‘s style of openness, wooden tables with numerous wines and jars lined along the walls. The intimate dining area seats around 30 but you won’t feel cramped. There’s even an outdoor area at the back for alfresco dining. With Classified sprouting up everywhere around town is there still room for another deli? Well there is. The food here was actually pretty good. For starters the bread came with a duck and pork spread that woke up our taste buds.

The menu is simple, two courses for HK$300/US$38 and HK$380/US$49 for three. For appetizers, you can pick from a wide selection from their deli counter. Or, as we did, order from the main course list for an appetizer sized portion. What struck our nerves was that they had Burgundy Snails and Steak Tartar. Both our favorites and we chose the escargots to start. C chose the Goose Foie Gras Terrine from the daily specials on the blackboard, which was amazing. The escargots didn’t come in their traditional shells so we didn’t have to fumble with them and could dive straight into the yummy garlic butter and pesto sauce. Pass the bread please, lots of bread… The difference between the appetizer and main course portions was that the latter came in a larger bowl with mashed potatoes. More bread please… To complement our dinner we had the 2006 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Red, a well balanced and very reasonably priced wine.

We passed for dessert…this time. The selection of cheeses was very tempting, especially the Munster and Tête de Moine. The reason was that we went over to La Crêperie for crêpes. We’ll definitely be back for the cheese.
