Review – Guest Chef Paul Liebrandt @ Mandarin Grill + Bar, Hong Kong
(Update 13 April 2012 – updated Wagyu | Tuna PL descriptions with feedback from Corton)
We were excited to get a table for Paul Liebrandt’s wine pairing dinner at the Mandarin Grill + Bar. It was fully booked and we were lucky that there was a last minute cancellation. The chef-owner from the two Michelin starred Corton in New York attracted our interest, but our expectations were a bit cautious as we thought it was going to be a lot of molecular gastronomy. Nevertheless, we went with open minds and open mouths.
Review – New Sushi Chef Okabe-san @ Inagiku, Hong Kong
We headed to Inagiku at IFC, Hong Kong to try the new sushi chef, Takashi Okabe, former head sushi chef at Sushi Musashino, Hilton Tokyo, Japan. To be honest, we did not have terribly high expectations as Inagiku’s existing sushi chef was already very good.
Review – The Vintage Course (#3) @ Mission Hills Resort, Haikou, China
This was the course used for the World Ladies Championship the last three days. We played the Pro-Am on Thursday, but it was in Texas Scramble format so we didn’t really play the course in its entirety. So we thought we’d might as well give it a go.
Review – Stone Quarry Course (#7) @ Mission Hills Resort, Haikou, China
We weren’t very sober teeing it up on the Stone Quarry Course (course #7) at Mission Hills Resort in Haikou, China, but the 20 minute ride out (for courses 5 to 10) from the clubhouse made it a bit better. Note that the bus schedule is fixed and not very frequent so make sure you allow ample time before teeing off, especially on busy weekends.
Review – Molines Bistro, Hunter Valley, Australia
A bit off the path of usual Hunter Valley wineries and restaurants, this small gem is next to the Tallavera Grove winery in the south, tucked up on the hillside of Mount View.
